Medium: Television
Title: The Characters

The Characters
Lucha Underground
With the start of the second season, Lucha Underground put out a comic book to capitalize on the show’s serialized development, since that is the show’s strongest attribute after insane lucha libre action. With season two wrapping up tonight with Ultima Lucha Dos, it seemed fitting I post up this recap of the four-issue series.
Joe Somiano
Medium: Comic Books
Title: Super Pro K.O.
Bio: Despite backstage politics, rookie sensation, Joe Somiano, looks to make a name for himself within the Super Pro K.O. wrestling league.
Signature Move: Unknown.
Tiger Davis
Medium: Television
Title: Mister Ed
Bio: Looking to curb his overeating and sudden weight gain, Tiger turned to ballet to get back in shape and even incorporated it into his wrestling style. It proved so successful that he hung up his wrestling boots for a pair of ballet slippers.
Signature Movie: The pirouette.
“Macho” Mike Haggar
Medium: Video Games
Title: Saturday Night Slam Masters, Final Fight, Marvel vs. Capcom
Bio: A veteran of the Capcom Professional Wrestling Association, the former Mayor of Metro City was as dangerous outside the ring as he was inside. Despite his many accomplishments, he has yet to beat his dream match opponent, Zangief.
Signature Move: The Pothole Plugger.
Zangief
Medium: Video Games
Title: Street Fighter series
Bio: The Red Cyclone is one of the biggest and strongest competitors of the street fighting circuit. He has more scars than Sabu due to wrestling bears (not from botching table spots). Despite being a heel, he doesn’t think it makes him a bad guy.
Signature Move: Spinning piledriver.
Magnificent Mimi
Medium: Film
Title: American Angels: Baptism of Blood
Bio: The American Angels’ Women’s Champion was a force to be reckoned with. She was a dominant champion and showboat who finally met her match in newcomer, Luscious Lisa. Was also rumored to be dating Angels color commentator, Diamond Dave.
Signature Move: Playing to the crowd.
Luscious Lisa
Medium: Film
Title: American Angels: Baptism of Blood
Bio: Granddaughter of famous old school grappler, George “Killer” Kane, Lisa was a scrappy underdog who made her American Angels debut in the main event against Magnificent Mimi. There were rumors of backstage heat on Lisa for her close involvement with Angels commentator, Diamond Dave, who was said to be Mimi’s real-life boyfriend.
Signature Move: The Snap.
American Angels: Baptism of Blood (1989)
With Netflix recently announcing that they’ve ordered a comedy series based on everybody’s favorite female wrestling league from the 80’s: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW), I figured I’d finally get around to reviewing the quintessential 80’s women’s wrestling movie, American Angels: Baptism of Blood.
