Animaniacs

Netflix

“Fake”
Season 2, Episode 4
11/12/1994

Despite watching this episode when it was still available on Netflix, today it was announced that Hulu will not only be adding Animaniacs (and, more importantly, Tiny Toon Adventures) to their catalog of shows, but that they’ve given a two-season order to revive the show. Now here’s Animaniacs crapping on pro wrestling and its fans.

Maron

Maron - Logo1“Cold Turkey”
Season 3, Episode 12
7/30/2015

Sadly, Marc Maron has decided to end his show Maron after it’s fourth season. Personally, I thought it was just as as good as his podcast. Especially, if you wanted to actually see Maron work through his personal issues instead of just hearing him talk about them. Anyway, here’s a wrestling-ish episode that features CM Punk and Colt Cabana, both of whom were guests on previous episodes of WTF with Marc Maron.

Kyle’s Wrestling T-Shirts on Maron

IMG_5589

Season four of IFC’s Maron premieres tomorrow, and since I haven’t gotten around to reviewing the episode that features “MMA fighter” CM Punk and Colt Cabana, I figured I’d just list the ten best wrestling t-shirts that Marc’s assistant, Kyle, has worn over the past three seasons. Les Reines du Ring (2013)

Les Reines du Ring is WWE’s first attempt at utilizing WWE Studios to co-produce a movie about wrestling.  And not lame ass amateur wrestling like Legendary starring John Cena, but good ol’ “Sports Entertainment” professional wrestling. Apparently, the film must’ve done well in France for WWE to consider remaking it for U.S. audiences in order to save us the trouble from reading subtitles. So get to know Les Reines du Ring before its potential American remake is released and take pleasure in the fact that France is capable of producing by-the-numbers Hollywood saccharine crap, and not just avant-garde, art house films like Holy Motors.

The Mountain Goats “The Legend of Chavo Guerrero”

The Mountain Goats - Legend of Chavo Guerrero

The Mountain Goats channel Korn’s Twisted Transistor video, and do a much better job of getting other people to mouth their lyrics, as they pay homage to Chavo Classic.

Undeserved Championship Matches

HardcoreHolly vs Lesnar3So people feel Roman Reigns doesn’t deserve his championship match at WrestleMania against Brock Lesnar, despite the legally binding contract that is winning the Royal Rumble. But this isn’t the first time the WWE has accelerated a wrestler’s path to the main event, or even thrown a bone to a long-time mid-carder that had no business being in a match that had the title graphic “WWE Championship” before the bell rang. To be fair though this list will only concentrate on those undeserved number one contenders that were given pay-per-view title shots, or else it’d be filled with every wrestler Bret Hart faced in 1992, or almost every other superstar Hulk Hogan defeated on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
