All-American Fictional Wrestlers
Previously, I covered the best All-American wrestling attire that’s ever been worn inside the squared circle. And it still stands as the definitive guide in patriotic wrestling gear. Now, in celebration of American’s independence, I’d like to bring to your attention the most All-American fictional wrestlers to come across pop culture.
Looney Tunes
The Mad Bull
Medium: Film
Title: Mad Bull
Bio: Mad Bull was a heel in an era where everybody treated heels like pieces of shit, both inside and outside the ring. It affected his love life and his relationship with his son. He made it his mission to prove to the world that he was a decent guy, and that the top babyface, Jack Braden, was a dick in real life.
Signature Move: Turning face.
The Masked Mabels
Medium: Television
Title: Mama’s Family
Bio: The Masked Mabels were once the most dominant tag team in the women’s wrestling division. Despite their size and years of wrestling experience, they were easily defeated by a wrestling grannie on the biggest show in the history of Raytown.
Signature Move: Jobbing to an older lady who has never wrestled.
The Green Bastard
Medium: Television
Title: Trailer Park Boys
Bio: The Green Bastard roams the Sunnyvale Trailer Park looking to take on all comers. As long as they take off their shirts. Has only had one professional backyard wrestling bout, which was a tag team match that saw him on the losing end due to a disqualification.
Signature Move: Hammerin’ people.
“The Electric” Shawn Harley
Medium: Television
Title: Supernatural
Bio: Top Notch Wrestling’s brash, young, up and comer. Complains about having to wrestle drunken wrestlers, and apparently is against jobbing to Crazy D. Rumored to have backstage heat with booker, Gunner Lawless.
Signature Move: Refusing to job.
Gunner Lawless
Medium: Television
Title: Supernatural
Bio: Gunner Lawless once sold his soul for a world title shot and a lifetime supply of wrestling gear decorated with tassels. Now, he’s the main booker of Top Notch Wrestling, which means he’ll occasionally put himself over the younger talent.
Signature Move: Chokeslam and selling his soul to the devil.
“The Hangman” Larry Lee
Medium: Television
Title: Supernatural
Bio: When not endangering the safety of his opponents by wrestling drunk, The Hangman likes to live up to his moniker by choking out his opponents with a magical noose that drops from the ceiling.
Signature Move: Hanging wrestlers.
Create-A-Wrestler: The Masked Mauler
Medium: Television
Title: Garfield and Friends
Bio: On the surface, The Masked Mauler was an opposing figure. Underneath the mask lurked an over-sized, goofy-looking nerd who was allergic to cats.
Signature Move: Bullying local townspeople into wrestling matches.
